Our Guests

Joanna Herrera

Joanna Herrera is a first-generation Latina born in Lima, Peru and raised in Los Angeles. Her two passions are her daughter and preserving the stories of her family’s history. Joanna received her B.A.in both Latin American Studies and Spanish from Chico State University. She continues her work in Latin American History with an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies and nurtures her desire to support her Latinx community as the Student Success Coordinator for the Adelante Program.

Jenifer Yang

Hello, my name is Jenifer Yang, and I am a first-generation student at Chico State. Currently, I am in the Kinesiology graduate program and emphasizing in Adaptive Physical Education (APE). I am Hmong and strive to serve, support, and help underrepresented population in the community with my achievements. Some things I love to do are travel, play sports, take photos, try new food, and laugh. I try to live by Walt Disney quote: Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious … and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

Jacky Villalobos

Born and raised in San Diego, Jacky moved to Chico in 2015 to start her undergrad. She graduated in 2020 with a BS in Cellular and Molecular Biology as well as Microbiology. Now, in hopes of one day working her way up to an administrative position at a CSU, Jacky is working on obtaining her MS in Biology to go on to her PhD soon after.

Anthony Ruiz

I’m a first year MBA student focusing on general business administration. I graduated from CSUC in May 2020 with degrees in Sociology and Social Science and a minor in Communication Design. I have worked in higher education and student affairs for the past few years and also have an interest in public service and politics.

Hi there! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you
using for this site? I’m getting fed up of WordPress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives
for another platform. I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
